1936

The Seabrook Anglers Association was formed some time during 1936; exactly when in 1936 we are not sure. We are lead to believe that some of the founder members were J.E.Fagg, J.S.Parslow and others of whom at this stage we are unsure. The two patrons of the Club were Lord Viscount Wakefield (click here for more info) and Sir Philip Sassoon. Both donated Cups- the Wakefield Challenge Cup and the Sassoon Trophy. Other trophies donated were The Ladies Challenge Bowl donated by H.E.Etherington which,in those days was fished for by the ladies (and we are told that they were quite a formidable force), the Fagg Cup donated by J.E.Fagg and the Parslow All Day Cup donated by J.S.Parslow. We have not been able to find the history of the remaining cups competed for in 1936. The cups in question are the Fremlins Tankard, the Inter Club Team, All Night Challenge Cup, All Day Challenge Cup and the Team Challenge Cup. In all ten Cups were competed for. Not bad for the Club's first year. In the Hythe Local News Paper an advertisment for afore coming event:-
